Have you ever noticed how lonely a crowd can be at times. Maybe you are with someone even. But the people around are different, or you are. Sometimes with mental illness people really are isolated. People that do not understand the illness can't really understand. They try but inside you know they don't really "get it". That is a time to have self pity or compassion. Love them as Jesus does. Forgiving their understanding.
